Kano athletes: N1m not enough, they died in service – Shehu Sani faults govt’s compensation

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has criticised the Kano State Government over what he described as inadequate compensation of One Million Naira given to each of the families of the deceased athletes who lost their lives while representing the state.

Recall that on Saturday, Kano State Government announced a donation of a million naira each to the families of 22 athletes who lost their lives in a motor accident while returning from the National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

However, in a post on X, Sani described the amount as insufficient and unbefitting, especially considering the fact that the athletes died while in active service to the state.

“One million for each of the deceased athletes is not enough. Kano is rich enough to do more than that. The deceased died in active service,” the former lawmaker posted on Saturday.
