Meddy Olotu, a human rights activists, has spoken about the deadly attack by armed herdsmen in Edikwu Ankpali, a community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State. He said many people were killed in the attack.
Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, Olotu said a friend of one of the victims who were killed during the attack called the victim’s phone number, and the call was answered by one of the armed herdsmen.
Olotu said the herdsman boldly told the caller that his friend who owns the phone was dead, and even challenged the caller to come to Edikwu Ankpali with an AK-47 and confront them (the armed herdsmen) if he had the courage.
Olotu said this shows how fearless the armed herdsmen have become. He said they no longer run or hide after attacking villages. He called for urgent help to stop more killings and protect people living in Edikwu Ankpali community.
In Olotu’s words: “One of his friends called that line today and one of these Fulani herdsmen picked the call and was telling the guy that ‘Your friend is dead, if you have the mind, if you have the AK-47 come. We are still around Edikwu Ankpali'”.
