FRSC launches investigation into crash that claimed lives of 22 Kano athletes

The Federal Road Safety Corps has launched an investigation into the deadly road crash which resulted in the death of 22 Kano state athletes and officials returning from the 2025 National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

The crash took place in Dakatsalle as the group were returning home after representing Kano state at the national sporting event.

This was revealed by the FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, who was represented by the Zonal Commanding Officer in Kaduna, Assistant Corps Marshal Ahmed Umar, during a condolence visit to the Kano State Government House.

“Road traffic crashes don’t just happen; they usually occur because of human error, or environmental reasons or a mechanical failure,” Umar said on the visit.

He assured the state government that findings from the investigation will be shared once concluded.

Meanwhile, Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who received the delegation, thanked the FRSC for its timely intervention.
