Popular Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has revealed why he was expelled from the university while also stating how the university later called him back to complete his course at the university.
According to a video that was posted on the official YouTube channel of With Chude during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, he made it known that he was expelled from the university when he was listed among one hundred and fifty students who were caught for cultism at the time.
When asked why he was expelled from the university, Daniel Etim Effiong said, “At the time I was in school, I was a righteous person, I was a church boy and a bookworm. When I heard about the renunciation ceremony, I felt it was great, but I knew it didn’t concern me, and after the renunciations, the school published the names of cult members who refused to renounce cultism. My name was listed among 150 cultists in school, and I was expelled from the university. I don’t know why my name got there, and everything that we tried to save me didn’t work out. It was a miscarriage of justice because there was absolutely no proof that I was a cult member. When we were at the disciplinary hearing, I was told to prove to them that I wasn’t a cult member, but I was also thinking that they should be the ones to prove to me that I was a cult member because they were the ones who accused me in the first place, but they couldn’t prove anything. First of all, I was suspended indefinitely, but it became expulsion after the disciplinary hearing. It was a very dark period in my life, and then the university called me back, and they said I had been forgiven, and obviously my parents told me to go back, which I did, and I obtained my degree in engineering.”
