According to reports, the suspect, who went by Lucky, broke into a bedroom where Eric Oghenevwede Oghenekparobo, the infant, was asleep. When she saw the intruder taking her infant out of the house, the baby’s mother, Mrs. Oke Oghenekparobo, sounded the alarm.
Mrs. Oghenekparobo, 28, described her experience while crying, saying: “I saw a strange man walking out of our house with my son.” He wasn’t someone I recognised. He dumped the infant and leaped the fence as soon as I yelled. However, he was caught by neighbours who pursued him. Witnesses attested to the community’s quick response. “He tried to deny it, saying someone else took the baby,” one person stated. However, a young person identified him, so we detained him until more people could come.
Unrepentant, the suspect allegedly boasted that he would be released soon after arriving at the police station. Another resident remarked, “He assured me that nothing would happen to him and that the police would promptly release him.” “I came to the area to visit my friend who is a bricklayer,” Lucky said in defence of his innocence. I am a parent myself. I have no idea why I am being blamed. The prompt arrival of police officers from the Ughelli Area Command prevented the suspect from being lynched. Investigations are still underway, and he is now in detention.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
