Speaking at a public engagement session, Osinbajo stressed that anyone who genuinely wants to see change in the direction of leadership, development, and governance can no longer afford to ignore politics. His message was delivered while Nigeria continues to face growing economic, security, and social justice difficulties, all of which he believes can only be resolved by capable and patriotic citizens taking action.
Osinbajo pointed out that political indifference, particularly among Nigerians with education and talent, has left a void that is frequently filled by people who lack ethics or vision. “The worst will automatically take over if the brightest minds stay out of politics,” he stated. He urged Nigerians to start acting now by joining parties, taking part in discussions, and holding politicians responsible rather than waiting till election season. He said that democracy cannot flourish if people are only observers rather than active participants.
His comments coincide with the fact that many Nigerians have lost faith in the system as a result of numerous cycles of subpar leadership. However, Osinbajo maintains that without citizen participation, the system cannot be fixed on its own. He exhorted young Nigerians to use their enthusiasm, online presence, and inventiveness to impact decisions that impact their lives in order to buck the trend of political disengagement.
