According to reports, Delta State Police PRO SP. Bright Edafe’s announcement of the arrest will draw attention to the region’s continuous fight against illegal weapons. “The suspect Kingsley Ugochukwu aged 40yrs was arrested by the command’s operatives during a raid in Ogwashi-Uku and the locally fabricated pistol was recovered from him,” Edafe said on his official X account.
After more research, it was discovered that Ugochukwu had tried to elude justice by calling his wife to get rid of another gun at their house. “But while he was in custody, he called his wife to dispose of the other gun he had at home,” Edafe continued, highlighting the careful attention to detail displayed by the command. According to reports, this episode highlights Nigeria’s widespread problem of illegal firearm circulation, where locally made guns are easily accessible and can exacerbate security issues.
As demonstrated by recent efforts against suspected kidnappers in the Ubuluku-Ogwashi-Uku woodlands, where five hostages were freed, the operation is a part of the Delta State Police Command’s larger attempt to tackle crime, according to Daily Trust. The command’s dedication to tactical operations is shown in Edafe’s statement: “Remember that we don’t work miracles. We are engaging in pure tactics, and without intelligence, tactics cannot be implemented. “Please always try to reach us,” Edafe said, expressing the command’s continued call for residents to give information.
