Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Ali questioned the authenticity of these reports, calling for more transparency in the fight against insecurity across Nigeria.
“Most of the time, the hearing of fake news on social media each time claiming 50 or 100 bandits or insurgents have been killed, but you will not see a single corpse,” he said. “And human corpse is not that of a fly.”
His comments come amid ongoing military offensives in the northwest and northeast regions, where government forces are battling criminal gangs and extremist groups. Regular reports both from security agencies and widely circulated social media posts claim significant numbers of enemy combatants have been neutralized, however, Ali argued that without physical or photographic evidence, such figures are questionable.
The security analyst emphasized the need for accountability and truth in public communication, particularly in a country where trust in official narratives is already fragile. According to him, unverifiable reports may serve short-term public relations goals but ultimately erode public confidence in security efforts.
Ali’s remarks have sparked fresh calls for independent verification of military claims and improved communication between security agencies and the public.
