SAD: How top Nigerian celebrities mourned actor Kayode Peter’s death

Top Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to mourn the death of Nollywood actor cum filmmaker Kayode Peters who died in Toronto, Canada, days after marking his wedding anniversary with his wife, Alexis Peters..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

As earlier reported by eelive.ng, Peters, who is known for his work on the comedy series Flatmates, died after battling an undisclosed illness. His family announced the tragic news in a statement shared on his Instagram page.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Kayode Peters Adewumi, who passed on peacefully this morning, June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada,” the statement read.

“KP braved, challenged and conquered a long time illness until his last breath this morning.

“KP, a cherished son, husband, father, brother, and friend, a gifted film maker, actor and producer whose work inspired many. Beyond his talent, it was his kindness, warmth, and generous spirit that truly defined him. He touched countless lives, both on and off the screen, and will be deeply missed.

“As we grieve this painful loss, we kindly ask for kindness and privacy while we take time to make arrangements for his funeral and to heal. Further details will be shared in due course.

“Thank you for your love, condolences, and continued support. — The Adewumi Family.”

Following news of his death, tributes have poured in from colleagues in the entertainment industry.

Co-actor and late friend of the deceased, Basketmouth wrote, “Rest in peace, blood.”

Actress Omotunde Adebowale-David popular known as Lolo, mourned the late filmmaker, recounting how the late movie director saw her, recommended her, and gave her opportunities when no one else believed in her. She also prayed for his family in these challenging times.

In hers words: “Kp…….. you are one of the best! You saw me. You gave me jobs. You recommended me. You asked after me

“You gave me opportunities, @kayodepeters1. I thought we had overcome the worst. This one hit me hard, and I will mourn because I am allowed to grieve a loved one ! Ha! Kp i am not okay at all. Jesus, please hold his family steady and me also. I will cry a river hoping you will come back ashore! In all things I give thanks, but my heart is distraught !”

Actor and filmmaker Freddie Leonard also mourned death of Kayode Peters, noting that the deceased was someone who was filled with so much creative ideas.

In his words:“Ah! kayode.. this is a painful exit oh. You were an all-around good guy. Always willing to support, collaborate, and always willing to push people into great and strategic positions. Every time we spoke on the phone, it was always a burst of great ideas on all we can become in this creative space. Brother, I GO MISS YOU.”

While media personality, Frank Edoho mourned the late actor and movie director, saying:”Rest in Peace, KP. So long my friend.”

Kayode Peters began his career in the early 2000s and gained recognition after producing the TV drama Twilight Zone.

He later created and acted in the popular Africa Magic sitcom Flatmates, which featured actors like Basketmouth, Okey Bakassi and Buchi. His other television credits include Extended Family, Being Farouk and Dream Job.

He also produced stage plays and movies such as Crazy Grannies and Excuse My African, a film shot in New York and known for spotlighting African identity and stereotypes.

Kayode earned a degree in English from the University of Lagos, a master’s in film and TV production from the University of Greenwich in the UK and a diploma in digital marketing while living in Canada.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
