Augustina Adoma, 29, has been taken into custody on suspicion of stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the chest and setting fire to his kiosk. The Accra Regional Police Command says as much. After a fight over another woman, the tragedy took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the Accra suburb of Sowutuom. In a statement released on Wednesday, July 2, the Ghana Police Service claimed that the suspect had previously been romantically involved with the victim, a 30-year-old driver named Emmanuel Otabil.

According to the police, at around 9:00 a.m., Adoma allegedly showed up at Otabil’s house without permission and discovered him with another woman. She allegedly removed the victim’s Samsung phone and doused them both with water. She is reported to have returned to the victim’s property while he was away, at about 4:00 p.m. that same day. She allegedly entered his shop with a duplicate key and burned his possessions, including bed linens, blankets, and a mattress. Otabil allegedly confronted Adoma about the event that night and insisted on getting his phone back. She allegedly grabbed a knife from a local orange vendor during the argument and stabbed him in the left side of the chest.

Before being sent to Lapaz Community Hospital and then to the University of Ghana Medical Centre, where he had emergency surgery, Otabil was first taken to Race Course Hospital. He is responding to care and undergoing treatment at the moment. Adoma went to the Tesano Police Station to submit a separate assault charge, but police investigations resulted in her detention. At the station, the victim’s phone was taken from her. According to a police statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng of the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit, “The case is still being investigated.” The statement recommended that complaints be settled amicably and legally and asked the public to abstain from actions of retaliation, especially in home conflicts.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
