The Police investigation into the ritual murder at Adidome in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region has revealed a shocking motive behind the gruesome killing.

Bedzo Courage (25), allegedly aided to strangle friend’s rival

The Chronicle, which has been tiptoeing behind crack detectives on the beat, is privy to information that, suspect Wisdom Hedidor, allegedly orchestrated the murder of Nelson Anyena, as reported by The Chronicle on Tuesday, this week.

John Gblor (40), allegedly assisted to dismember the body

According to sources, the suspect suspected the deceased to be chasing Augustina Fiawoyipe, a young woman fetish priestess, who is also a suspect in the case.

The plot unfolded when the fetish priest, Noah Gblor, allegedly requested human body parts from Wisdom and offered an amount of GHC7,000.00 (Seven thousand Ghana Cedis).

Our intelligence source, who pleaded anonymity, stated that Wisdom then saw it as an opportunity to eliminate his suspected rival, Nelson Anyena.

To advance the diabolic plan, he arranged with the girlfriend to lure the supposed rival to an uncompleted building.

There, together with his accomplice, Bedzo Courage overpowered the innocent guy in the presence of the fetish priestess at the center of the issue, and was strangulated.

His body, The Chronicle gathered, was transported in a ‘motor king’ bucket under firewood and delivered to the priest at the shrine. Without hesitation, the priest redeemed his promise by offering the amount involved and expressed his gratitude to them.

Yohanes Gblor (27), reportedly took part in dismembering the body.

Accompanied by his two junior brothers, John Gblor and Yohanes Gblor, they used the deity knives to dismember the body of poor Nelson.

The paper’s hard working source also intimated that after receiving the amount, Courage, a popular person at Avakpokope, the village where the killing took place and the main architect, Wisdom, said to be a private security guard, resorted to affluent living.

Augustina, fetish priestess, who security sources confirmed, intimated to them that she started smoking cannabis at a tender age and it is hard for her to stay a day without it, also enjoyed the booty.

On Monday July 7, 2025 the Volta Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Mick Omari Boakye, led a team of detectives and armed uniform personnel drawn from Ho and stormed a shrine at Gblorkope, near Adidome, on the Sogakope road.

The action was part of investigation into the murder of Nelson Anyena, who disappeared since December 4, 2024 for which report was made to the Police at Adidome.

In the cause of the massive security operation, the priest pointed to the location where they buried the missing person under the deity.

He was offered the shovel and dug beneath the about five feet high statue of the deity and brought out the human parts buried there.

The operation was crowned with two other bodies recovered in some rooms at the premises of the shrine.

The deity under which the body was buried

As the paper probes further, a senior citizen from the locality tried to explain the circumstances leading to the ritual murders, which have become prevalence in some parts of the country.

According to him, it is common knowledge that deities known as ‘korku’ are associated with feeding on human blood and body parts used as the foundation on which the statue deity is built.

He went on that it is not strange that people often get missing in areas and immediate communities where the deity (korku) is established.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters in 2020 embarked on a similar operation at Maame Dede near Adeiso in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region.

The location was Power 1 Herbal and Spiritual Center where the remains of three bodies, two males and a female, including that of a missing Biochemist were exhumed.
