Outrage has been sparked by the viral film, which highlights the risks that women face in the capital city as a result of an increase in criminal activities. According to Dina, the event happened as she was on her way home from work. Unaware that the individuals inside were suspected traffickers and kidnappers, she got into what seemed like a normal taxi. I was only permitted to call two individuals. I picked up the phone and called my mum right away. Despite her fear, she insisted that I maintain my composure, she recalled. Soon after, the attackers called her mother and threatened to kill her unless they were paid ₦5 million in ransom.

The family’s sole provider, her mother, who works for the Federal Road Safety Corps, found it difficult to collect the money in time. Dina remarked, “She did her best to borrow the money, but the timeline was too short.” The captors became aggressive while they awaited the money. “They severely beat me. I was no longer even aware of what was happening. They urged me to take off my clothing and claimed I was wasting their time. Before continuing the beating, one of the captors made fun of her appearance.In the end, they assured her that if she consented to be raped, they would forget the ransom.I pleaded to be spared. I assured them that the money will arrive.However, they insisted that it must take place in the vehicle,” she said.

Dina was repeatedly beaten inside the car in spite of her protests. They were constantly moving. I was crying and pleading with God to simply take my life. The abductors threatened her further by sending her mother pictures, which only served to exacerbate the anguish. In a voicemail provided to her, Dina disclosed that her father, who was already unwell, sobbed. Dina was so ashamed and afraid that she never told her parents she had been raped. “I simply mentioned the beatings to them.
