A 27-year-old Brooklyn father was fatally shot while he was going to pick up one of his daughters from a beauty parlor. Per the New York Post, the fatal incident occurred on Saturday, and the deceased victim was identified as Jahshyim Whitfield.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Whitfield was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The suspect who shot him was yet to be arrested at the time of this report.
“My firstborn is gone. My son is gone,” Whitfield’s grandmother, Evelyn Whitefield, said. “He don’t call me grandma, he called me ‘Ma.’ He would rather come to my house than his own mother’s house. He liked grandma’s cooking.”
Whitfield was the father of two daughters: Ariana, 9, and Kay Lani, 4. His family said he was gunned down while he was going to the beauty parlor to pick Ariana up.
“He was a great father. That’s what he cared about, his family,” a woman who said she was related to Whitfield said. “He was a devoted father and while they took him, his daughter was spending his whole summer with him.”
“Her life is going to be different forever,” she said in relation to Ariana.
