The remains of two Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) students who went missing three weeks ago have been found in a forested area along the Ondo and Ekiti States border.
Identified as Andrel Eloho Okah, a 200-level History and International Studies student, and John Friday Abba, a 200-level Economics student, the duo was discovered lifeless in the bush over the weekend, according to a report by TVC News.
Although the specific cause of their deaths remains uncertain, security personnel suspect they were abducted and murdered. A source familiar with the case stated, “The missing AAUA students were likely killed by suspected kidnappers. Their bodies were found where they had been concealed.”
The tragic news has thrown the university into mourning, with widespread grief expressed by both students and staff.
Akeem Ologbon, President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday. He said the union had taken immediate steps to locate the students after they were first reported missing.
“We contacted the anti-kidnapping unit in Akure and informed all relevant security agencies within the state. We also made sure the new Commissioner of Police was briefed on the situation,” Ologbon said.
He added that the union also collaborated with the Nigerian Police Force’s Scorpion Squad in Akure to intensify efforts in handling the matter across various law enforcement bodies.
As emotions run high, Ologbon urged students and members of the university community to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
“The union is maintaining close contact with official sources and will only release updates that are accurate and verified,” he assured.
He further pledged that the union would not relent in its efforts to ensure that justice is served for the late students…CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
