The dramatic intervention happened as the Agbekoya delegation, headed by its President General, Aare Kamorudeen Okikiola, was returning from a high-level courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Adegoke Fayoade, MNI, PSC, at the Zone 2 Command headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, according to a report published by PM News Nigeria on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The visit was a component of the society’s redoubled efforts to promote community policing throughout Yorubaland by boosting cooperation with the Nigeria Police.

The Agbekoya convoy was travelling to the mainland when members spotted a lone man acting strangely close to the bridge’s edge, according to eyewitness testimony. Aare Okikiola, alarmed by his actions, gave the convoy the order to stop right away. Aare Kamorudeen, who was clearly upset, stated, “We had just finished a productive meeting with the AIG when this happened.” “Today, God utilised us. Our goal is to safeguard lives, restore hope, and collaborate with security agencies to create a safer society.

The individual, who is thought to be in his early forties, was securely turned up to the Bariga Police Division’s Berger Pin-down section. Since then, he has been sent for a psychiatric and medical assessment in order to get the urgent attention and assistance he requires. Civil society organisations and social media users have praised the Agbekoya Society for their prompt and compassionate response. Many praised the group for its prompt action and emphasised how crucial it is to build closer ties between official law enforcement and cultural institutions. The Agbekoya leadership and AIG Fayoade had strategic discussions earlier in the day about everything from farm security and grassroots intelligence collection to the threat of criminal impersonators using the Agbekoya name fraudulently…CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
