“I was shut out when I arrived to continue work as directed by the Federal High Court. She asserted that the Senate is subject to the law. She had formally informed the Senate of her return after her six-month suspension was ruled unlawful on July 4. She took issue with the National Assembly’s overbearing security.
“Seeing armed police officers confront an unarmed female senator is disheartening,” she remarked. “I was reinstated by the court after being voted by the Kogi Central residents. This blatantly violates both. According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the court’s decision is final. Orders and recommendations are included in the definition of a decision under Section 318 of the Constitution. According to Section 287(3), all agencies are required to follow court orders, she stated. “The Senate is not legally permitted to disregard this.” The Senate itself did not challenge the decision, she added. “Senator Akpabio, not the National Assembly, made the appeal. “He added the Ethics Committee and the Senate as respondents,” she said, displaying court records.
