Omoyele Sowore: Police Protest: They Suddenly Discovered His Pension Was Not 2 Million But 5 Million

He claimed that the officer who initially ignited the pension crisis through a viral video was later discovered to be entitled to ₦5 million in pension, not ₦2 million as earlier reported. According to Sowore, the issue, which had been disregarded for more than ten years, gained traction after Nigerians united in support of it. As a result, senior officers also benefited from advancement, and some police inspectors who had not been promoted in seven years were recently promoted.

He went on to say that the system was forced to take action by the collective voice of worried residents, which resulted in a 40% monthly increase in pensions. According to him, “Let me tell you, just within the last time I came on your show to talk about the police protest and now, a lot has happened, just because people rose up in support of the cause.” And for that reason, I always urge Nigerians to support worthy causes regardless of how small their contribution may be. Among them is the sudden promotion of certain inspectors who had not received a promotion in seven years.

“Today, many senior police officers received promotions. In fact, the man who sparked this entire pension crisis with the video I shared on my Facebook page has now received 5 million Naira after they abruptly realised that his pension was actually 5 million, not 2 million. “They claim that pensions have increased by 40%. That’s the salary for the month. Many things have happened, but they did so because people stood up.
