A technician reportedly forgot to tell him to remove it, leading to a tragic accident.
The incident happened at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, Long Island. McAllister was there with his wife, Adrienne Jones-McAllister, who was getting a scan for her knee. While she was lying on the MRI table, the technician left to get McAllister to help her off the table.
According to the New York Post, the technician reportedly failed to warn McAllister to remove the heavy chain around his neck before entering the MRI room. Once inside, the machine’s powerful magnetic field pulled him toward it with extreme force.
McAllister remained trapped against the machine for nearly an hour. His wife and the technician tried to free him, but they were unsuccessful. Emergency responders were eventually called and managed to separate him from the magnet.
His daughter, Samantha Bodden, said in a statement that reports claiming McAllister wasn’t allowed in the room were false. She said, “Several news stations are saying he wasn’t authorized to be in the room when in fact he was because the technician went and brought him into the room.”
MRI machines generate intense magnetic fields that can attract metal objects and, in some cases, cause them to heat up. McAllister reportedly suffered several heart attacks during the ordeal and later died from his injuries.
The family is now calling for answers and accountability from the facility. They set up a GoFundMe to help cover burial expenses, which has so far raised nearly $10,000…CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
