The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has dismissed two Senior Special Assistants, one of whom was indicted for facilitating the bail of a notorious drug trafficker.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, said the governor “approved the dismissal of Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, after a Special Investigative Committee indicted him as the mastermind of the bail of a dangerous drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.”

According to the statement, Sharada’s “culpability in the controversial bail process” was confirmed “through the personal testimony he deposited before the committee.”

The dismissed aide was ordered “to hand over all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REPA), Office of the SSG, on or before the close of work on Monday, August 11, 2025,” and “cautioned against parading himself henceforth as a public officer under the present administration.”

The governor also “relieved Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant, Cabinet Office, of his appointment after his arrest for rebagging palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada in 2024.”

Roba, the statement noted, has since been arraigned in court on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly diverting public assets.

In contrast, the statement said Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, the Special Adviser on Drainages, was “cleared of all allegations by an investigative committee, affirming his innocence.”

Governor Yusuf “reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, warning all public officials to uphold the highest standards of integrity both in their official duties and private lives.”

The public was advised “not to engage the two sacked political appointees on any issue related to Kano State government,” with a warning that “whoever does that, he or she does it at his or her own risk.”

earlier reported that Kano State Commissioner for Transport, Ibrahim Namadi, was at the centre of a fresh controversy after allegedly collecting a $30,000 bribe from a notorious drug dealer, Sulaiman Danwawu, in exchange for standing as his surety.

Sources at the SSS headquarters in Abuja revealed that the agency had discreetly investigated the bribe-for-bail scandal and recommended the commissioner’s dismissal to the governor.

On Wednesday, SaharaReporters reported that Namadi, stepped down from his position following an investigation into his alleged involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug baron, Danwawu.

Namadi’s resignation came just hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the official report of the investigative panel tasked with examining the commissioner’s role in the controversial incident….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
