According to Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the Police Command, who gave a progress report on Sunday, detectives were dispatched to investigate the incident as soon as it happened.
She claims that after more than a year of arduous investigation, the suspects—32-year-old Mutari Lawal from Kano State, 22-year-old Dan’Asabe Ibrahim from Zamfara State, and 18-year-old Danjuma Ibrahim, who does not permanently reside in Mpape—were located and taken into custody. Adeh disclosed that the victim’s stolen phone had been off for more than a year, making early efforts to find it fruitless. She stated that on August 2, 2025, a big lead surfaced when Lawal was apprehended when the stolen device, a Redmi 13C, was turned on and traced to him.
“Police officers affiliated with the Mpape Division of the FCT Command have arrested three suspects connected to the deadly assault and robbery of Mr. Azubuko Nwakama of Liberty Radio, which occurred on June 14, 2024, at Panteka Market, Mpape, Abuja,” Adeh stated in her statement.

He identified his accomplices as Danjuma Ibrahim, 18, who had no definite residence in Mpape, and Dan’Asabe Ibrahim, 22, who was from Zamfara State, with whom he committed the crime.
