It was gathered that the suspected organ harvesters were in search of scrotum for alleged ritual purposes.
Luck was said to have eluded the suspects aged between 20 and 22 after they lured a 16-year-old boy identified as Faruq Abudu into a bush and inflicted a grave injury on him by cutting his abdomen to remove his scrotum and other vital organs.
the boys baited their victims into the bush by offering them a field clearing job in remote areas of the town in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state, not knowing that they had colluded with some men of the dark world said to be ritualists to harvest their organs alive.
A source in the town said, “I heard one of their victims was murdered but Abudu was lucky as he was able to crawl to a roadside where was rescued. He was able to name the perpetrators before he later gave up the ghost.”
Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday, Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said it happened on July 26, 2025, adding that the police quickly responded to the attempted ritual killing.
Ojelabi did not confirm whether the victims died in the process.
Ojelabi stated that “the victim was rescued to hospital for medical attention and later referred to University College Hospital.”
He said eight suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, including Ismail Abiodun and Usman Ademola, both aged 22.
