JUST-IN: 63-Year-Old Woman Arrested in Anambra for Alleged Child Theft

Police in Anambra State have arrested a 63-year-old woman, Ngozi Muotuanya, from the Awkuzu-Oba area, for allegedly stealing a one-year-old boy in Minna, Niger State, and trafficking him to Anambra….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Anambra State Police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect—believed to be a key figure in a cross-state child trafficking ring—was apprehended on Monday by officers from the Oba Division following reliable intelligence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly abducted the child in 2024 and sold him to an unsuspecting buyer in Anambra. The child was reportedly sold again to another individual. However, on August 4, 2025, the latest buyer, upon suspecting the child had been trafficked, returned him to Muotuanya.

Muotuanya is then alleged to have abandoned the child at an unknown church in Minna, where he was later rescued by the leader of the Igbo community in the area.

Ikenga stated that the Anambra Police Command has alerted its counterparts in Niger State to help recover the child and reunite him with his parents.

The suspect is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation and prosecution….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
