Women’s bodybuilder Hayley McNeff has unexpectedly passed away at 37 years old on August 8, 2025. Her obituary revealed that she died peacefully, though the cause of death hasn’t been made public.

“Such a bright light has left this world too soon,” her family shared.

As an adult, McNeff discovered her passion for bodybuilding. Between physique updates, intense training, and strict nutrition, she built an impressive legacy, paving the way for young women to follow in her footsteps. Her parents are still processing the loss and opened up about how she impacted their lives.

“Hayley was known for her quick wit and constant sense of humor, she had a gift for making those around her laugh and feel welcomed.

Her energy and determination was a constant in her life and she always accomplished what she set out to achieve. She treasured her friendships and nurtured strong, lasting relationships with those who knew her best. Hayley will be deeply missed by her parents, siblings, extended family and friends.”

Dave Palumbo of RxMuscle was one of the first to honor McNeff’s memory, noting her impact on the sport.

“I’m sad to hear of the passing of former woman bodybuilder @hayleysmash (HAYLEY MCNEFF) … she left us way too soon She was a good soul, super intelligent and had tremendous potential as a bodybuilder She appeared in @dave_pulcinella RAISING THE BAR videos back in the day and I was proud to be able to call her a friend Prayers to her family and friends. R.I.P,” he shared.

Throughout her bodybuilding tenure, McNeff was featured in Raising the Bar, a collection of bodybuilding documentaries directed by Mike Pulcinella. At the time, these projects offered an intimate look at the world of bodybuilding, highlighting the sacrifices and success stories of some of the sport’s most notable ambassadors.

McNeff touched the lives of many IFBB Pro League athletes, some of whom were taken aback by the sudden loss:

“🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾” Shawn Ray shared.

“Awful. She was a sweet girl and very gifted.” Jose Raymond said.

“Truly sad losing her @ such young age R.I.P 💐” added former Mr. Olympia Samir Bannout.

The fitness community was recently shocked by the passing of wrestling star ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan, leaving many on edge. Hogan was 71 years old and died shortly after a heart attack. From bodybuilders to actors and wrestlers, all came together one last time to honor his contributions.

McNeff’s funeral will be held on August 16 in George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home between 10 and 11 a.m. Our team at Fitness Volt extends our deepest condolences to her friends and family.
