Olumide-Fusika clarified in an interview with Arise News that whenever the EFCC reports securing 1,000 or 2,000 convictions, a closer examination of these cases frequently shows that they primarily involve people committing small-time frauds.

According to him, these criminals target foreigners by posing as prospective spouses and then extort money from them, much like street pickpockets do. He questioned why these cases should be given priority and the worth of the intelligence effort that goes into them. According to him, Nigeria’s problems go well beyond the actions of these internet scammers, and the nation’s law enforcement organisations ought to concentrate on more urgent and intricate matters.
