He stated in an interview with Arise News Television that a group of assailants shot at him multiple times with the obvious goal of killing him. He said that because he was still healing from his injuries, this interview was the first time he had been able to wear trousers since the tragedy. “I remember that the day I was shot, I had just returned from a meeting at this Hilton. They poured bullets on my car and all over my body, and I’m grateful to God Almighty. Actually, I’m wearing trousers for the first time today. I’m getting better.”

Jude Ezenwafor also described how he was able to protect himself from an assailant who attempted to pull him from his vehicle. He remembered taking a strong hold of the assailant and attacking him viciously, telling his driver to hurry out of the area. He said: “I got into a great argument with one of guys who was trying to push me out of the car. I connected one of them and ordered my boy to go fast because he wanted to drive me out of the automobile. I am glad that I had a conversation with the individual.
