He further warned that underestimating the importance of regional solidarity would be a mistake for party leaders seeking to reconfigure alliances ahead of 2027.
Sani explained that regional loyalty in Nigerian politics often plays a decisive role during elections. According to him, the northern political class and electorate will not easily abandon Atiku, who has contested several times and built a formidable network across the region. He said plainly: “They will come out because this is their son; they cannot use their son for sacrifice.”
Speaking in an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Sani addressed questions about possible realignments within the opposition, particularly with talks surrounding the political futures of Atiku, Peter Obi, and former President Goodluck Jonathan. He emphasized that while internal debates and defections may unsettle the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku’s support in the North remains resilient.
