A Nigerian lawyer, Joe Agbatar, has penned a heartbreaking post about his 33-year-old sister, Henrietta Doosuurshater Agbatar, who d!ed one year after her marriage….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
In a Facebook post on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Joe said his sister’s husband, Sefa Awen, had claimed that Henrietta d!ed from a lung infection on July 31.
He however, dismissed the claim, alleging that his sister actually d!ed from a heart failure developed over time “due to the merciless snare she got roped into.”
According to the legal practitioner, Henrietta’s life changed for the worse immediately after her marriage in August 2024.

“So you’ve all been asking what happened or making conclusions of your own already. We’ve been silent as a family. Here’s a small tip of the iceberg,” he wrote.
Henrietta Doosuurshater Agbatar (she never had a name change) is my younger sister.
After being with her loving family for 33 years, I gave her hand out in marriage to Sefa Awen on the 15th August 2024 and they wed in church on the 17th August 2024 (today would have been the marriage anniversary).
Her life dramatically changed immediately upon marriage, not for the better… but that’s to be said on another day. Maybe by another person.
Fast-forward to 31st July 2025 she lost her life. Suddenly, unexpectedly and undeserving.
Not from a lung infection as someone you know has claimed, but actually from a heart failure developed over time due to the merciless snare she got roped into, thinking she was getting into a marriage. A few details concerning this will be revealed in due time. Maybe by another person.
We, her family wanted a swift burial so that our hypertensive mother will get over this great loss speedily so we suggested that she be laid to rest on the 9th August, 2025.
“Her husband and his family outrightly refused, citing that they fully paid bride price 11 months ago, so it is their sole prerogative to take decisions concerning my sister and this led to my mom collapsing from the now double shock. Pride price that I collected only N1000 (One Thousand Naira), just for symbolism. Since I wasn’t selling my sister.
While my mom was still hospitalized, Sefa and his people, without any consultation with my family, went ahead and fixed a date for the burial and NEVER informed us.
Everyone knew when my sister was to be buried EXCEPT US. On 8th August, 2025 my cousin Uvah, Esq saw the burial program online and drew my attention to it.
I waited until the next Monday 11th August, 2025. No one still informed us of any burial arrangements so I opted to stop whatever nonsense was going on by securing a burial prohibition court order.
Later that Monday, after the Order was already issued, Sefa’s father along with his elder brother PASTOR Victor Awen, came to the house in my absence in the afternoon and told my already broken mother who had just been discharged from hospital and was still recuperating that “I have come to tell you that I’m burying Doosuur on Saturday.”
They had nothing else to say, not even plans on how to travel for the burial etc. They left. This was more like saying if you want to attend the burial you can come.
Well, Tuesday the court order was served on their family. That’s when they concocted and spread fables doctored to suit their purpose. I stood my grounds, unfazed.
Based on the intervention of my family elders and other respectable elders, particularly Hon. Salem Atsehe (he is from my place and they brought him to intervene) who practically schooled Sefa and his family on how wrong they have acted and forced them to apologize (which they did), I have shifted grounds a bit. Just a bit, because there are still grey areas that must be thrashed out.
We have now agreed that my sister will be buried at Sefa’s Village on the 21st August, 2025.
Wake will hold both at Sefa’s house and at my house on the 20th August, 2025.
Requiem will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral Church, Makurdi by 7am on the 21st August 2025 and thereafter we will proceed to Sefa’s village for burial on the same date.
May the soul of Henrietta Doosuurshater Agbatar and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
