He explained that he left for the UK on January 16, 2010 to study, but shortly after arrival, his “school certificate was revoked.”

He needed only “500 pounds to enroll in another university” but couldn’t raise the money.

“I got to UK, January 16 2010. Many things happened. My school certificate was revoked. It was either I get a new school or go back home, and I had 90 days to do that. That 90 days, 500 pounds was the money I needed to be in a new school. I didn’t have it. I called him, called everybody, nobody could raise 500 pounds. Then pounds was around ₦200,” he recalled.

He said his father told him: “If you can’t raise it, come back home.”

Before travelling, he worked in Ibadan selling motorcycle parts. “I sell follow come parts. I bought Bajaj, Jincheng or Suzuki, I buy complete machine, piece it and sell it in parts. I was the first person that did it when they call it follow come.”

He also described his struggles in the UK: “If I see one Indomie for London, I go dey happy say I chop something that day.”

He added that the “only thing that helped me was that I came with a three-year visa, and before they revoked it, I had already spent one year plus.”

The post caption read: “He sold his machine parts shop to japa for Masters and greener pastures. But life had other plans. After 10 years and 9 months in London, he returned to Nigeria with just ₦650,000.”

Today, however, he is the MD of EIS Group in Nigeria.

His story, according to the post, has become a lesson: “For those who think success only lives abroad, sometimes your true breakthrough is right here at home with your problem-solving skills. Nigeria has more problems to be solved that can make more money for you. Think it again before you japa.”
