The court ruled that Jennifer’s action amounted to a breach of promise and financial deception, as she failed to keep to her word after receiving the sum.m.
In its judgment, the court fined her the sum of ₦450,000 as restitution to Emmanuel. The magistrate further ruled that in default of payment, Jennifer would serve seven years imprisonment.
The verdict sparked reactions within and outside the courtroom, with many describing the judgment as a stern warning against acts of deceit in interpersonal dealings.
