The commission quickly clarified that Folarin was no longer an employee and distanced itself from him.
Folarin had previously worked at the EFCC’s office in Ibadan, Oyo State, but was fired because of accusations of certificate fabrication, the agency disclosed. The agency also revealed that Folarin’s detention had been ordered by its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, since he had neglected to return his ID card and other commission property after being fired. The EFCC said in its X post: “Olakunle Alex Folarin has been arrested by the EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, for holding onto certain commission assets.” In addition to highlighting the occurrence that attracted public notice because of its unique context on a matchmaking service, the statement reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to tackling misuse of its name and resources.
