Akindele made this known in a video shared on her Instagram page on Sunday as she celebrated her 48th birthday.
In her post, she expressed gratitude to God and her fans while unveiling the project.
She wrote, “It’s my birthday today, and I feel so fulfilled. I’m graciously grateful to God for the grace to keep telling our stories… I’m using this special day to reveal my blockbuster movie, which premieres in December 2025, Behind The Scenes!!!!! Expect something intriguing, captivating, and powerful. This one is very close to my heart, and I can’t wait for you all to experience it. Thank you for always riding with me. The journey continues…”
Explaining the theme, the actress said the film sheds light on untold struggles and realities hidden from the spotlight.
She added, “By the title, Behind The Scenes, a lot is going on, and that is what this film is all about. Now, let us lift the curtain to show you all the drama, the success, the pains, and the struggles that the spotlight never reveals. Come December 2025 Christmas, you all get to see Behind The Scenes.”
While unveiling the film, Akindele was also celebrated by colleagues and fans who flooded social media with tributes on her birthday.
Skitmaker Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State and often referred to as Akindele’s son, shared a heartfelt message describing her as a source of strength and love.
He posted, “Happy Birthday Grandma Sonia, Iyami Olufunke Ayotunde… Words can’t express how much I appreciate you. You’ve always been more than just a godmother to me; you’ve been a source of strength, love, and unwavering support. Thank you for the countless ways you’ve shown me kindness, for believing in me, and for always being there, no matter what. I’m incredibly grateful for your presence in my life… Enjoy your day, Iya Beji, Alase gbogbo FaanTV, JENIFA Kan, Lefty Miii.”
Popular actress Eniola Badmus also penned an emotional tribute, calling Akindele “more than just a friend” and describing her as a “playmate, my gist partner, my safe place.”
She wrote, “Thank you for all the memories and for making life so much brighter. May this new year bring you endless joy, success, and blessings.”
Actor Tobi Makinde, another colleague, praised Akindele as a “true trailblazer, luminary and exemplar of excellence,” wishing her greater strength and peace.
Fans also joined the celebrations. One user, @Metalistix, commented, “Many of us grew up watching you in our teens, and we’re still watching and celebrating you as adults – and we know we’ll continue cheering you on even in old age.
