In a Channels Television interview, Odey claimed that although the abductors did not blindfold them, they did warn them not to look at their faces. He claimed that they were made to keep their heads down whenever the kidnappers approached or spoke to them. According to Odey, those who attempted to glance up at the kidnappers on a number of those times were promptly disciplined.
According to Odey: “They never let us lift our faces whenever they came around, but we weren’t blindfolded. There were twenty-four of us, and whenever they approached or spoke to us, we always glanced down. You’re not allowed to see their faces. We were excited as a few of us lifted our faces to gaze at them.
