It was gathered that the incident occurred in Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspect, who is cooling off his heels at the police cell, confessed that it was his cult group that asked him to kill his father.
The suspect was arrested in a hotel on Sunday after he killed his father on Thursday night and fled OilField Road, their area of residence.
It was learnt that the suspect targeted his father, who was asleep at night, butchered him and inflicted him with bodily injuries. He was said to have also cut off his father’s hands, stole his money (proceeds of a land the father sold), and disappeared from the area.
In pain, the deceased screamed for help, and neighbours came to see him in the pool of his own blood. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
After the death of the deceased, neighbours launched a search for the suspect until he was caught in a hotel with two girls he lodged with, after organising a birthday party for another, whom he said is his girlfriend.
The police have deposited the remains of the deceased in the morgue.
