a pro-Tinubu organisation, to take prompt corrective action in response to what they called the “shameful spectacle” that occurred during the association’s recent annual general meeting in Enugu. They were appalled by what they described as “stage-managed antics” by journalist Seun Okinbaloye and “a parade of shoddy characters” who “desecrated the platform with crass and unbecoming behaviour.” The majority of participants gave a resounding “No” when Okinbaloye asked if their lives had improved under the Tinubu-led administration. The NBA, Nigeria’s oldest professional membership organisation, was publicly mocked by the actions, according to the pro-Tinubu group.
“This decline into partisan theatrics and cheap sensationalism is unacceptable,” the organisation declared. “The NBA must not be permitted to veer into the murky waters of partisanship or down the path of ignominy while you are in charge.” The organisation called for disciplinary action against those who “brought the association into disrepute,” a review of conference procedures to avoid a recurrence, and a public apology from the NBA to its members and the Nigerian public. They cautioned that inaction could “irreparably damage the credibility” of Osigwe’s government and would be interpreted as tacit approval of the occurrences.
