When the incident happened, Saleh was apparently eating with three friends when he abruptly sagged over, according to witnesses, which immediately alarmed those around him. At around 9:24 p.m., Francis Yusuf, the Security Supervisor, alerted the Wuse Division Police after prompt action from the hotel staff. For immediate medical attention, the man was initially taken to Kings Care Hospital in Wuse Zone 4.
