In an interview with Glitch Africa, Solade admitted to trying marijuana twice out of curiosity rather than addiction. He revealed that he saw Bob Marley in Oduduwa Hall in Ile-Ife on one of those occasions. He claimed that after smoking, he had the odd feeling that he was rising into the air and the earth was shifting. He was deeply affected by that encounter.
According to Solade, he had a memory of a well-known performer who had the potential to be as successful as Bob Marley. But he claims that crack cocaine devastated the musician’s life. Using this example, he demonstrated how drugs may destroy a person’s future regardless of their talent. According to him, “I smoked cigarettes for 27 years while I was growing up in Surulere. I had two cannabis experiences. I was curious to see what was within. I tried cannabis while I was at Ile-Ife. I watched Bob Mali in the Oduduwa Hall.
