Michael Rocha shot and killed his wife, Yesennia Rocha, in front of their family on Saturday, September 6, according to local KFSN, KSEE, and The Fresno Bee. After the shooting took place in the family’s home in Reedley, California, Michael escaped in an attempt to avoid the police.

Michael was eventually shot and killed during a shootout with police on Sunday, September 7, when officers were able to track him down in Woodlake, California, which is approximately 30 miles away from the family’s home.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said Michael fired a rifle at the responding officers once he was tracked down in Woodlake, according to The Fresno Bee. Officers returned fire, striking and killing the father of two.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the local newspaper.

“He got into a gun battle, and he pretty much got what he deserved,” Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told KSEE of Michael.

Both Michael and Yesennia were 43 years old at the time of their death.

Days after the deaths took place, the Rochas’ family members opened up about the brutal killing and shared insight about Yesennia.

Michael’s mother, Rita Rocha, reflected on her son’s motives, explaining that he and Yesennia had been dating since middle school. However, she recently filed for divorce two months ago.

“He couldn’t cope with her filing for divorce,” Rita told KFSN in an interview published on Tuesday, September 9. “He didn’t want to live without his sweetheart. He didn’t want to live without his soulmate, the love of his life and he didn’t want her to live without him, so he chose the cowardly way out.”

Meanwhile, the couple’s two kids also shared insight into who their mother was.

“She was the light of our world,” daughter Kayla Rocha told the outlet. “She shined very bright. She was always there for me and my brother. She was everything to us.”

Kayla, 23, also explained that Yesennia filed for divorce from Michael about two months before her death. “I see her everywhere,” Kayla said. “I see her on a beautiful day, in a Christian worship song, in clouds. I see her in flowers and plants because she loved all of those things. I see her in the mirror because I look just like her.”

Their son, Jacob Rocha, said that his father “took everything away from us.”

“I just wish I could see her one more time, hold her one more time, tell her I love her, give her a hug,” Jacob, 20, said. “I do find the littlest peace knowing that she is resting in a better place.”……CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
