After leaving her home and not coming back, Comfort, a 25-year-old from Takum Local Government Area, was reported missing. Two days later, her body was found in Emmanuel’s locked flat in the Bakasi neighbourhood of Jalingo, close to the Dr Rapha Memorial Guest Inn and the Vice-Chancellor’s Gate. Suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding her death were raised by reports that the flat had been locked from the outside.
Shortly after, Emmanuel Kefas, who graduated from the institution in 2024 with a degree in Human Kinetics, was also discovered dead in Tudiri, a nearby town outside of Jalingo. After Comfort died, authorities think he might have committed suicide. Nevertheless, contradictory claims have raised questions about whether he was actually to blame for her passing or if someone else was involved. Emmanuel and Comfort had reportedly been dating for a while, and their relationship was frequently tumultuous, according to neighbours and other students who live nearby.
Some locals claimed that during their numerous disagreements, Emmanuel had a history of physically abusing Comfort. Although early conjecture said that Emmanuel had run away following Comfort’s passing, his own unexpected passing a few hours later has cast doubt on this account.
