Governor Soludo vehemently denounced the security personnel’s behaviour in a statement posted on his official X Twitter, calling the incident “utterly condemnable.” He underlined that law enforcement officers must always stay within the bounds of the law and issued a warning that anyone found to be acting outside of their jurisdiction will face consequences. The governor conveyed his profound sadness for the loss and informed the injured victims and their families that the state will be there to support them.

He emphasised that the principles of the Anambra people are not reflected in the violent acts of a select few. “We support people who have been subjected to unfair treatment. This does not represent our national ideals,” Soludo said. He prayed for justice and healing for Mrs. Chinwe Igwe’s soul and the souls of all the deceased as he wrapped up his remarks.
