Kunle Akinlabi: Ogun projects – OGD’s rants are cries for relevance

Former Governor Gbenga Daniel’s latest rant at the commissioning of the Igodè International Market is nothing short of reckless, desperate, and hypocritical. Ogun people are not fooled. They know a serial betrayer when they see one, and Daniel has built his entire political career on treachery, deceit, and opportunism. For such a man to attempt to lecture Governor Dapo Abiodun on transparency is not only laughable but insulting to the collective intelligence of Ogun citizens.

This is the same OGD who ran Ogun State aground — leaving behind debt, abandoned projects, and a legacy of political confusion. A man who could not fix Igodè roads in eight wasteful years is now boasting of patching them with his pocket money. That is not leadership, it is failure parading as charity. Daniel’s antics expose him as a political hypocrite who failed in government and is now gasping for relevance as a Senator.

Perhaps the most shameful of his claims is the so-called Agro-Cargo Airport “project.” What project? Throughout his tenure, the airport was nothing but a pipe dream — dead paperwork gathering dust in government files. No foundation, no brick, no runway. It took the discipline, courage, and vision of Prince Dapo Abiodun to turn those empty promises into the world-class reality Ogun State celebrates today. For OGD to even suggest ownership of the airport’s history is the height of deceit.

Daniel’s noise about Ijebu State is no different — pure political gimmickry from a man who has never stood consistently for any cause except his own selfish ambition. He betrayed his allies yesterday, he is betraying his party today, and tomorrow he will betray whoever is unfortunate enough to trust him.

The truth is clear: OGD’s time has passed. His voice is the bitter cry of a failed politician desperate for attention. Ogun State has moved on under the steady, proven leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, whose results are visible in every sector. OGD’s reckless outbursts will not erase his own failures or stop the progress of a government delivering real dividends of democracy to the people.
