ADC faction gives David Mark, Aregbesola, Atiku, El-Rufai, others conditions to be accepted

The faction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, acting National Chairman, Nafiu Bala, on Tuesday gave conditions to accept and welcome back the David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola-led interim leadership.

Abimiku Monday, the Special Adviser on Strategic Communication to Bala, said Mark and Aregbesola can only be accepted if they follow the legal process of joining ADC.

He disclosed this while featuring on Arise Television’s programme, Morning Show.

Monday disclosed that there is still room for alignment with the Mark-led leadership.

He said: “‎If they follow the legal procedures of joining the party through the electoral wards by identifying with the actual existing structure of Nafiu Bala Gombe, then we would definitely accept whatever discussion they want us to have.

“‎But other than that, it is an aberration, It’s an attempt to hijack the structure and we will not allow that.

“So if they present themselves, of course it is politics and in politics there’s room for interaction, there should be room for alignment and realignment, there should be room for disagreement and agreement.

“‎So we disagree to agree, we are not insisting or saying that we do not welcome them, but as far as they follow all the legal processes, looking at the constitution of the party and all the necessary processes and procedures laid down by the constitution of the party, we will welcome them in and work together.”

The opposition coalition with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Babachir Lawal, Peter Obi and others had adopted ADC a few months ago.

Following the adoption of ADC, Mark was elected as Interim National Chairman of the party while Aregbesola was named Interim National Secretary.

Displeased by this action, the Gombe faction of ADC had instituted a legal action against the coalition.
