Kidnapped Plateau Legislator: We are aware, making frantic efforts to rescue him

The Plateau State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed that Danti Laven Jacob, Member Representing Pankshin South Constituency in the State Assembly was kidnapped on Monday night.

The Police also said efforts are being made to rescue the lawmaker.

The Command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, made the confirmation on Tuesday.

He said, “The Plateau State Police Command received a report on 22 September, 2025, that one Hon. Danti Laven Jacob was intercepted by unknown hoodlums while driving into his house at about 08:00pm and abducted to an unknown destination.

“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Rantya Division and the Officer in Charge, Anti Kidnapping Unit Jos to quickly mobilized to the scene and are currently combining the bushes to rescue the victim.

“The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, psc, has directed the Area Commander Bukuru to deploy all DPOs and Tactical/Patrol Teams within the metropolis to join in the ongoing operation, and ensure the safe rescue of the victim”, he maintained.

Adding that, “The Plateau State Commissioner of Police wishes to reiterate his commitment to fighting crime and criminality within the State.

“He warns all those with criminal intentions to either flee from the State, or be ready to face the full weight of the law even if arrested by our detectives.

He called on residents of the state to remain peaceful and reach out to police numbers that are in the public domain in case of emergency.
