Osun Police debunk viral video of bandit attack

The Osun State Police Command has dismissed claims of a bandit attack circulating in a viral video.

The police command also assured residents that the state remained secure.

In a statement on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, explained that the incident shown in the video did not occur in the state.

According to him, the alleged attack occurred on August 18 at Rore/Arandun in Kwara State.

“The police command wishes to clarify that the trending video has nothing to do with Osun State.

“The alleged attack happened in Kwara. The public is enjoined to disregard the video and desist from spreading unverified stories,” he added.

The spokesperson stressed that the command was committed to ensuring peace and safety in all parts of Osun.

He assured residents that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotam, had ordered the deployment of tactical squads and intelligence units to all boundary communities.

“These deployments are meant to fortify security architecture across Osun and reassure the public of our readiness to tackle any threats,” Ojelabi noted.

The command urged citizens to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
