Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has claimed Arsenal will be the nearest rivals to Liverpool in the Premier League title race this season.
Keane stated this while analyzing the Gunners’ 1-1 draw with Manchester City last Sunday.
Gabriel Martinelli came off the bench to cancel out Erling Haaland’s early opener at the Emirates.
The result leaves Arsenal five points off Liverpool, who have won all their five league fixtures so far.
Keane has now suggested Mikel Arteta’s men are more equipped to challenge for the title.
He said: “Over the last few years, every time I’ve seen Man City and Arsenal in terms of winning the league title, I’ve never felt Arsenal had enough.
“[They never] had enough strength in depth, they obviously lacked that striker, but I look at Arsenal’s group of players now and I think they have the players capable of winning the Premier League.
“If you’re looking at both squads [Man City and Arsenal], you’re thinking Arsenal are probably going to be the nearest rivals to Liverpool [for the Premier League title].”
