NDLEA, Police arrest 57 suspects in Kano joint operation

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), working with the Nigeria Police, has arrested 57 people for drug-related offences in Kano after a series of raids across the state.

The three-day operation, carried out on September 24, 25 and 27, 2025, was part of efforts by the Kano State Joint Taskforce for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, led by Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata.

The raids took place in several areas, including Kofar Ruwa, Tashar Rami, Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna, Mil Tara, Zage, Dorayi Karshen Waya, Dawanau and Filin Idi.

During the operation, officers seized different types of illegal drugs and locally made weapons. Investigations are still ongoing.

Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata said, “Our resolve to eradicate drug abuse and associated thuggery in Kano remains unshakeable. We will continue to work tirelessly to create a safer, healthier community for all.”

He praised NDLEA and police officers for their commitment and called on everyone to join hands with security agencies.

“I urge community leaders, parents, civil society and members of the public to join hands with security agencies in this effort,” he added.

The NDLEA Kano commander also thanked the Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for supporting the fight against drug abuse and thuggery, noting that the government’s backing has strengthened security and rehabilitation efforts.
