JUST IN: Kwankwasiyya Leader Danfulani Joins APC

A leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Gobirawa Ward, Dala Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Amadu Danfulani, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with thousands of his supporters.

Danfulani, who announced his defection on Tuesday during a ceremony held at the APC state headquarters along Hotoro–Maiduguri Road, cited dissatisfaction with the leadership style of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and what he described as the “anti-people policies” of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government in Kano.

Gobirawa Ward, regarded as the largest in Nigeria with the highest number of polling units, is considered a strategic political base in Kano State.

While receiving Danfulani and his supporters, APC State Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, represented by the party’s Zonal Chairman (Kano Central), Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Ungoggo, assured them of a warm welcome into the party. Also present were the Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Rabiu Suleiman Bichi; the state and Northwest zonal youth leader, Alhaji Labaran Kura; and APC leaders from Dala Local Government and Gobirawa Ward.

Abbas, through his representative, reiterated that the APC remains open to new members from opposition parties, provided they comply with the party’s rules and constitution. He added that even NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso would be welcome back if he follows due process.

“With Gobirawa being the largest ward in the state and the country, the defection of Danfulani and thousands of NNPP members to APC is a major boost ahead of the 2027 general election,” he said.
