The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reacted to the alleged suspension of the profile of Monsuru Aduragbemi, one of the candidates who registered for the 2025 examination.
The board in a statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, its Public Communication Advisor debunked the report that Aduragbemi’s profile was suspended by JAMB following the controversy rocking her application to gain admission into her choice of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
According to Benjamin, the allegation that the examination body suspended the candidate’s account is a deliberate misinformation peddled by some “conflict entrepreneurs.”
He said that, the report which claimed that JAMB disobeyed the Court order mandating parties to maintain the status quo in the matter involving Aduragbemi and two universities, Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Lagos should be disregarded.
He also explained that there is evidence which shows that the candidate in question “on her own volition” is no longer affiliated with any of the institutions listed in the matter.
Benjamin noted that this was the situation as of September 25, when the suit was filed and as of September 30, when the court gave its order.
He further highlighted that the trending “suspension message” received by Aduragbemi was a programmed alert which pops up once a candidate’s JAMB profile has been locked by the examination body not suspension as claimed in the report.
He said that candidates’ profiles are usually locked to prevent any form of modification whenever a matter is under investigation.
“The suspension message being mischievously misrepresented is a usual programmed default message that pops up on any profile on which any alteration by the Board officials, institutions or candidates had been restricted.
“It was when the fraudulent effort to tamper with the status quo became unsuccessful that those sponsoring her apparently became frustrated and resorted to media blackmail in a bid to pressure the Board into violating the court order.
“As a law-abiding government agency, JAMB remains fully committed to upholding the rule of law and complying strictly with judicial directives,” Benjamin said.
He further urged Nigerians to discountenance the reports and treat such claims as misinformation aimed at ruining the examination body’s image and integrity.
