The 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Wednesday, October 22, reaffirmed his support for George Moghalu, the LP candidate in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
In a post made on X, Obi said he visited Anambra State where he joined Moghalu and other party members for a campaign rally held in Ogbunike, the hometown of the Labour Party’s deputy governorship candidate, Ifeoma Okaro.
According to the former governor, he was received with warmth, energy and genuine enthusiasm that was deeply inspiring.
“During my brief remarks, I expressed my profound gratitude to the community for their unwavering support and for standing firm in the belief that governance must prioritise human development.
“I emphasised our collective zeal and commitment to improving the quality of life in every community through better education, accessible healthcare, youth empowerment, and job creation.
“We reaffirmed that the Labour Party’s mission is about transforming lives and restoring faith in leadership.
Together, we will build a more inclusive and prosperous Anambra,” Obi wrote on X.
Obi’s fresh support for Moghalu comes hours after a group of persons led by Ikenna Azomichine threw their weight behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid.
Azomichine and his team at a press conference claimed to be members of the Obidient Movement in Anambra, sparking outrage from the national leadership of the group, led by Yunusa Tanko.
However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, Tanko dissociated the Movement’s involvement in the charade led by Azomichine.
Also urging the public to disregard the claim that the Movement was supporting Governor Soludo’s second term bid, Tanko said that the group solidly stands behind the Moghalu was was earlier endorsed by Obi.
