Gov. Bago Urges Massive Turnout for APC in Niger LG Polls, Donates Vehicles to Councils

Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has called on residents to come out in large numbers and vote for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 1, 2025 local government elections.

Bago made the call on Saturday in Minna while inaugurating the APC campaign ahead of the polls. He expressed confidence that the party would record overwhelming victory across the 25 local government areas and 274 wards in the state.

The governor commended party members for their steadfastness, loyalty, and continuous support to his administration and that of President Bola Tinubu. He urged them to remain committed to the ideals of the APC and to mobilize widely for its success at all levels.

“We must continue to show strength, unity, and commitment to the cause of our great party,” Bago said. “The APC has demonstrated capacity to deliver good governance, and the forthcoming council election will be another opportunity to reaffirm the trust of Niger people in our leadership.”

Bago also reiterated his administration’s determination to improve the welfare of citizens, noting that both the state and federal governments were working closely to address the security challenges facing Niger and the country at large.

As part of efforts to boost grassroots mobilization, the governor donated vehicles to all local government councils in the state, except Paikoro, which is currently entangled in a court case over its primary election.

“Until the court gives its decision, Paikoro cannot benefit from the donation,” Bago clarified. “However, I urge the people to stand firm and deliver APC at the polls.”

In his remarks, Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, hailed the impressive turnout at the campaign flag-off.

He described the upcoming election as a litmus test for the credibility, popularity, and performance of the ruling party under Governor Bago’s leadership. “We are confident that the APC will sweep all the chairmanship and councillorship seats,” Sarkin-Daji said.

Also speaking, APC National Vice Chairman (North-Central), Mu’azu Bawa-Rijau, who represented the party’s National Chairman, commended the achievements of the APC-led governments, saying they reflect the party’s commitment to positive change.

He urged unity among members and predicted victory for both President Tinubu and Governor Bago in 2027.

State APC Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Musa-Bobi, assured that the party would adhere strictly to all electoral guidelines and accept the outcome of the polls in good faith.

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, and Chairman of the National Population Commission, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf, also called on voters to support APC candidates in appreciation of the developmental strides of the current administrations.

The event climaxed with the formal presentation of APC flags to the 25 chairmanship candidates contesting under the party’s platform.
