Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on Friday attended the funeral of highlife music icon Mike Ejeagha in Imezi-Owa, Ezeagu local government area of Enugu state.
Obi said he arrived in Enugu from Lagos in the morning to pay his last respects to the late cultural figure, whom he described as a man whose legacy “profoundly shaped society through his remarkable contributions to culture and music.”
“In the quiet solemnity of that sacred moment, surrounded by his loved ones and a reverend father, we offered prayers at his graveside, commending his noble soul to the Almighty,” he wrote on X.
Obi noted that Ejeagha’s passing should remind Nigerians of “the beauty of a life dedicated to service, culture, and truth.”
“May his memory inspire us to use our own gifts for the good of society, and to live in a manner worthy of remembrance,” he added.
He concluded his message with a prayer: “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.”
